Officials at the Branch County Sheriff’s Office said one in 10 Americans above the age of 60 experience some form of elder abuse.

In West Michigan, one organization dedicated efforts to combat the crime against vulnerable adults.

The Branch County Sheriff’s Office announced the area’s Elder Abuse Victim Specialist. Josh Englehart, the specialist, was chosen to work in the area on behalf of the Branch-St. Joseph Area Agency on Aging IIIC. Englehart was assigned to serve as part of a recently launched program called the Services to Victims of Elder Abuse Program. Another specialist was added in St. Joseph County.
