Advocacy and Legislation

The MIEJCC serves as a state level voice for speaking on behalf of elder abuse victims and network partners through the promotion of advocacy activities and legislative initiatives. A key component includes effectively combining network partners’ knowledge and resources to impact policy, be it legislative or regulatory, in order to assist elder abuse victims.

Core Functions

  • Develop strategies to inform policy makers, government officials, legislators on issues impacting elder abuse victims.
  • Provide direct and indirect testimony before public hearings.
  • Promote and seek resources to fund diverse services for elder abuse victims.
  • Assist network partners in identifying and supporting advocacy activities.
